VP-16 Annual Membership Meeting

Shipmates,

 

At the Annual Meeting during the October 2025 reunion in Mobile, AL, it was decided that we should continue to hold our Annual Membership Meeting

and elect the Board of Directors to maintain our viability, regardless of how often future reunions occur.

 

To that end, the final preparations for our Annual Membership Meeting, to be held on October 22, 2026, at 9:00 AM at the Hampton Inn Downtown in

Vero Beach, FL, are complete. I have some important items to share and keep in mind as you consider attending.

 

We have two planned events for the directors and any members who attend and wish to join.

 

1)       Wednesday afternoon – 10/21 - Check-in to the hotel

2)       Thursday - 10/22 - 9:00 AM - Annual Meeting.

3)       Thursday -  10/22 - 12:45 PM – Depart Hotel for tour of the Piper Aircraft Manufacturing Facility. (This is a 1.5 to 2.0-hour walking tour with

          some stairs.)

4)       Friday - 10/23 – Navy SEAL Museum. - At your leisure, transportation will be provided to and from the US Navy SEAL Museum, a 20-minute

          coastal ride from the hotel. It is open 10 AM to 4 PM. Plan on at least 2 hours plus for the visit.

The hotel has provided us with special rates of $139.00 and upgraded us to King Studio rooms at no charge for Wednesday (21st), Thursday (the

       

meeting day, 22nd), and Friday (23rd). There are “shoulder” dates two days before and after for anyone wishing to spend relaxing time on Florida’s Treasure Coast. Since no reunion planning is currently underway, you may want to take this opportunity to connect with a few of your Shipmates.  

 

You must let me know if you plan to attend NLT on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, so I can ensure proper accommodation sizing. If you are planning to take the Piper Aircraft tour, let me know ASAP since the tour is limited to 10 people. Should we have more than 10,

Piper will provide us with a second tour guide with extended notice!

 

The reservation cutoff date is September 15, 2026, which is crucial to guarantee your spot at the negotiated rate. The hotel has asked that reservations be made as soon as possible to ensure availability.

 

The hotel cancellation policy for this event requires cancellation at least 3 business days in advance to avoid a one-night charge.

Vero is home to the highly accredited Riverside Theater and the Vero Beach Museum of Art. For theatergoers, “The Vaudeville Man” will perform during

our dates. The McKee Botanical Garden is a haven for nature lovers. This historic Old Florida tourist destination dates back to 1932. Vero boasts an abundance of restaurants, from your familiar national chains to high-end, five-star dining on the ocean.
